Our History
The Well Church of God, formerly known as Shoal Street Church of God, has always been a church on mission to help build the kingdom of God since its inception in 1947.
We are so thankful for our heritage! It was shared on several accounts that in the fall of 1947, "God sent a man by the name of J.W. Leatherwood to this city to conduct a revival. He was a man full of the Holy Ghost, a man with vision, and he had compassion for lost souls."
The church was formally organized on October 1, 1947, with twenty-eight charter members. In March of 1948, the Church purchased property on West Shoal Street. A church building was built in March of 1949.
During the pastorate of Rev. Howard Wright the Church purchased 12 acres of land on Kay Drive and on November 20, 2005 the first service was held in the new building. We currently worship at this location. We have a tremendous heritage, full of many miracles and testimonies; more than can be shared. This historical account in no way gives the full details of all the ministry that has happened through our church. The Well has faced many challenges, but has seen the faithfulness of God. We have had many wonderful pastors, and so many members who have worked diligently for the cause of Jesus Christ.
We celebrate what God has done and with great expectation we press forward by faith to continue our ministry led by the Holy Ghost, full of vision, and with compassion for lost souls to Pulaski, South Central Tennessee, and to the uttermost parts of the earth!
